Allow 60cm per person along the table edge, and 80 to 100cm between the table edge and the nearest wall for chairs to move. For a 4-room BTO, a 4 to 6 seater table is usually the practical size, and often the most cost efficient one too.

Pedestal base tables make it easier to tuck chairs in fully compared to four leg designs, useful in a tighter dining corner.

Table Shape Matters

• Rectangular: most versatile, maximises seating, sits against a wall well. Best for narrow HDB dining areas.
• Round: no sharp corners, a more intimate meal, suits square rooms.
• Oval: generous surface with a softer visual line.
• Extendable: compact daily, expands when guests come over.
