Marble vs Sintered Stone Dining Table: Honest Comparison

Marble or Sintered Stone: An Honest Look
Marble has the name recognition, sintered stone has the practicality, and Singapore dining tables are increasingly choosing the latter. At Mega Home Furnishing, we get asked to explain the difference often, so here it is plainly.
Getting the Dimensions Right
Allow 60cm per person along the table edge, and 80 to 100cm between the table edge and the nearest wall for chairs to pull out. For a 4-room BTO, a 4 to 6 seater table is usually the practical fit, in either material.
Pedestal base tables make it easier to tuck chairs fully in compared to four leg designs, helpful in a tighter dining area.
Table Shape Matters
- Rectangular: most versatile, maximises seating, sits against a wall well. Best for narrow HDB dining areas.
- Round: no sharp corners, a more intimate dinner, suits square rooms.
- Oval: a generous surface with a softer visual line.
- Extendable: compact daily, expands for festive entertaining.
At Mega Home Furnishing, we carry both surfaces across every shape.
Chair and Table Pairing
Standard table height sits at 73 to 76cm, with seat height around 43 to 48cm. This pairing keeps posture comfortable through long meals regardless of the tabletop material. Armless chairs also tuck under more completely in tight spaces.
